Rodgers - November 2001 -- for more information on using this paper properly! Introduction Seattle has become one of those  places that people have come to equate with "cool." Nature lovers enjoy the easy access to forests, mountains, the ocean, lakes and the rainforest. It has a population that is  as diverse as anywhere in America. The high-tech world reveres it as the home for the top technological innovators aka Microsoft. For those into alternative music, it is the home  of what came to be known as "grunge." It has world class opera, art, symphony, and drama groups, as well as what countless Americans think of as really important .  . . three professional sports teams (Seahawks, Mariners, and Supersonics). It is a liberal city that offers opportunity for virtually every sort of activity. In addition, and for many  Seattle residents (and wannabee residents), it is an extremely beautiful place. Of course, it is rainy but its many other attributes more than make up for its seemingly endless days  of damp, gray mistiness. Style Surrounded by Green Seattle can easily be associated with the blue-gray of the ocean and its sky but a visitor will be most likely to  take away a sense of its "green-ness" when they leave. In certain parts of the city, one has a sense that if the humans were to leave for only a  few years the natural flora of Puget Sound would reclaim the city. As a result, the many unique architectural features of Seattle are highlighted against the drama of the natural
