numerous...therefore, the state legislature need not heed the appeals." In analyzing the full editorial paragraph containing the above information, I found that this  paragraph fell short of a sound argumentative presentation for a number of reasons. Although it stated the basic facts and ultimate conclusion of the situation, it failed to present  valid persuasive evidence to help the reader gain a wider perspective of the issue and therefore a clearer understanding of its outcome. This  paragraph stated the fact that only 200 members of a student body consisting of 12,200 students chose to participate in the protest, but it made no mention of the possible  reasons that might lie behind the decision of those opting not to participate as well as those who chose to join the protest. Within the paragraph itself are hints  as to why participation in this protest involved such a small number of the student body of Waymarsh State College. The paragraph states that those students who did not  participate "either stayed on campus or left for winter break". The fact that the actual protest took place during the beginning of winter break, a time during which many  students had most likely already made prearranged plans to leave campus grounds, should be singled out as an argumentative point. This point would provide a measure of reasoning behind  the large discrepancy between the number of students opting to participate and the number opting not to be involved in the protest. A  number of recently published articles concerning the current protest attitudes and tendencies of modern university students could also serve to clarify this argument and offer insight into its conclusion.
