    the purchase is considered the value that is added with the purchase needs to be assessed. Not all of the value is directly assessable in economic terms, but  will eventually effect the bottom line, as an overall strategy will hep to bring in the customers and retain business. The first is a subjective goal. The company has had  the aim of becoming the largest security company in the world. This is a purchase that would help to realise that goal, placing them on an even footing with the  current largest supplier; Baker industries. This is an interesting goal, as the value of being large is not one that will always result in a better bottom line, in  many cases there can be diseconomies of scale. However, being large also give rise to economies of scale when an organisation is run efficiently, and as such becoming larger, if  handled correctly, may be the source of some added value. However this alone should not be the deciding factor. The second method of adding value is within the operations  of Pinkerton themselves. American Brands are selling the company as security no long fits within their strategy, therefore, this is not one of the core competency areas. The management of  CPP believe that the financial management can be improved wit reduce the level of working capital that is currently tied up in the business, this is a key factor  in increasing productivity and performance and as such the bottom line (Watts 1998). There is also the value that is added by the brand name. Pinkertons has  a long history and an association with that history, The value of any brand name is difficult to assess., for example, Coca Cola and McDonalds have very string brand names,
