influence the direction any political body takes. These are simplistic statements, but truthful statements all the same. In the following paper we examine some of the events that have occurred
in the past year in the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The paper first presents brief summaries of articles which have appeared in the Albuquerque Journal over the past year
as they relate to city council and the mayor. Then some of the current actions of the Albuquerque City Council are examined. This is followed by a section which discusses
the relationship between city councils and mayors. The paper finishes with an assessment of all that has been discussed, examining who seems to have power and who is perhaps
fighting for formal and informal power. Summary of Articles in Albuquerque Journal First and foremost it should be noted that the full stories of most of the articles
being discussed were not available to this particular writer due to the fact that one needs to subscribe to the online site just as they would subscribe to the paper
itself. As such the only information available to this writer is the summaries, as well as knowledge retained through the year due to news broadcasts (This writer lives 120 miles
from Albuquerque). In addition, it should also be noted that the information and arguments presented are only offered as a tutorial for the student. The student should be able to
