Information concerning  the National Crime Victimization Survey in place since the seventies (includes crimes reported by victims and the sociodemographics of victims). Note to the student: When called concerning this sample  paper on 5/1/01; you were advised this information was missing - you will need to fill this in. You gave no specific about the community -size or nature of  population for your crime prevention officer). Relationship of fear to crime (Q2) Depending on the nature of the community and its socio-demographics, this is an ideal place for the  crime prevention officer to begin his/her relationship with the public. Certainly some of the presentation will vary, depending on the ages of the community members. As an example  if the population is older, it might be well to do some door-to-door introductions, and at the same time, canvas what outside activities community members usually attend. Perhaps time  would be saved on the part of the crime prevention officer if a presentation was made at the Senior Center daily luncheon. If the population is a younger one, the  crime prevention officer might begin by giving information at day care or at schools with hand-outs for children to take home. Whatever the  age group that is hearing the discussion, it would be good to begin with the question, what do any of us do when we are afraid? Do we physically  feel differently? Does it affect our judgment? How can we avoid those feelings? Of course some of this again will depend on the nature of the audience.
