    widely is the area of privacy. This is reflected in the global arena of labour relations where there are increasing concerns especially regarding the way that technology may infringe basic  human rights of employees. This may also be seen as crossing over with the anti-discrimination laws as information gained this way may lead to employees receiving prejudicial treatment. The unions  have been more active in the UES seeking to prevent the breach of privacy when we compare the US to other areas this more practice stance that has been developed  may be appreciated. There are both federal and state laws that can be considered here. However, these rights are limited if the information is already obtainable though public routes  (Lexis, 2002). In a recent case, Scottsdale Unified School District No. 48 and others v KPNX Broadcasting Company and others (1998) Supreme Court No. CV-97-0112-PR. In this case there was  a request made of schools for the birth dates of all teachers, the request was denied and a case brought, the schools argued that the information was private and not  in the public interest, initially the court agreed, but on appeal it was held that it was not a breach of privacy, as the information was already in the public  domain from other readily usable sources (AFT, 2002). Therefore, here, although the employer was seeking to protect the privacy of the employees there was a decision that it was not  private information as it was obtainable from other sources. This has helped to define what information is and is not private. However, it leaves a great deal that can be  classified as private. Another issue of privacy is that of DNA testing results, There is a growing demand by insurance companies to undertake DNA testing so that members of
