    Number of Pages: 4

    Summary of the research paper:

This is not just an inconvenience, it is inefficient and wastes resources. If the linens were stocked in the labs, the techs would spend basically no time at all, i.e.,  seconds as compared to as many as a few minutes retrieving the linens the patients need. The proposal is to erect shelves in the two labs where technicians would only  need to grab the correct type of linen for the patient. This would save as much as an hour each day, which in turn, would lead to more patients being  seen and higher patient satisfaction. The cost of erecting the shelves in each lab would be retrieved with just one more patient per day but the author suggests, this could  result in seeing an additional eight patients each day. Introduction The X-ray lab uses linens for patients. Each patient is provided a light cloth covering over the part of  their body that is to be X-rayed. At the present time, linens used in the X-ray lab are stored in a closet that is not easy to access. This situation  makes the lab less efficient than it could be because it takes time to go to the closet that is not conveniently located, obtain the linens and deliver them to  the patient who is waiting either in a small dressing room or in the lab itself. The staff has conducted a time study and found that it takes between two  and three minutes to obtain the linens from the closet and deliver them to the patient. If the little closet happens to be blocked by a chair or a gurney,  it takes even longer. This increases the wait time for each patient by that amount. It also leaves the X-ray rooms doing nothing during that time. It should be
