Project Summary 16 References 18 1. Executive Summary The plan that is recommended is the implementation of a new software system  to facilitate electronic patient records for the hospital. The aims of the proposal are multiple; the implementation will help to increase the quality of care given to the patients,  increase the efficiency of the hospital operations and increase the number of patients that can be treated each day. The system should also support the staff and the overall employee  motivation by enabling the employees at all levels to focus on their jobs with the knowledge that they are providing quality care. Those in healthcare jobs are in a vocational  career, so there is extrinsic and intrinsic motivation. The system should also provide some significant economic benefits to the hospital. The initial capital required for the investment is $2,710,000,  for the trial start up costs, including the software, upgrading of existing hardware systems, training and development of the staff and the additional costs of transcribing existing active patient records.  The implementation will also incur additional operating costs, the main costs will be the recruitment and wages for a security admin staff member. This will be important as the  data stored will need to be security maintained, the remaining staff members needed will be drawn from the exiting pool of staff who look after the records. The ongoing costs  will also include the need to buy a contract for ongoing technical support. This has been allowed for over the entire period of the 5 year projections. This is a
