Need for the Service Obstetrics is a service that is  needed, and one which is poorly served. While there is sufficient capacity within the local hospitals to deal with the demand, the service level is poor, which results in a  high patent to staff ratio and few choices, especially in terms of planning and during labor, so while there is technically capacity, there is a distinct shortage of quality care  that provides the choices that mothers want. 2.1 Services to be Provided To provide this service there will be a full range of services for pre and post natal  needs for mothers and children. This will include * Health checks and advice for those considering pregnancy * Full care for women during pregnancy, with all healthcare checks taking places  * Scanning facilities * Prenatal and baby care classes, including preparation of labor and baby care, as well as classes for after the baby is born, such as baby
