is not only the communication that has broken down there is a lack of any real teamwork, each member of the team has their won agenda and is looking out  for themselves, feeling they are working against others in order to survive and that none of the other care about them. There  are many reasons why this may have occurred and how it may have become established. Teamwork may fail for a variety of reasons, Lencioni, (2002) divides this into five main  categories; the absence of trust, a fear of conflict, a lack of commitment, avoidance of accountability, and inattention to results. If we consider these in terms of the way a  company operates and the leadership then we can see how they manifest in reality. The concept of teamwork is not new, and  as this firm is firmly in the scientific management school so we can look at the way team work is seen from this perspective. Teamwork can be seen as developing  in the days since the industrial revolution. In the days prior to the industrial revolution development of a product would have been by a single person, from start to finish,  this was the age of the craftsmen. However, with scientific management and increasingly complex tasks, even those skilled have become more specialised. In effect the ultimate team maybe compared to  the single craftsman, and the modern team is needed to bring all of the increasing complex skills together (Flemming and Koppleman, 1996). In the case there has been a breakdown  of work and a lack of trust so each individual is returning to trying to work alone without the support of others.
