in all the areas, including literature, painting, music, architecture, criticism and history in Western civilization. If Classical styles were seen as being typically calm, harmonious, balanced, structured, and rational, then  the Romantic period was anything but those things. This is particularly true of the use of nature and natural elements in the works of the times greatest literature, including Mary  Shelley, William Blake and William Wordsworth. Anyone can throw a few sentences together, it can be argued. So, what makes a  good writer? Quite frankly it is a combination, one might consider, of an artists eye for detail, a psychologists questioning mind, and the courage of a skydiver. In other words,  the writers own unique voice is something that no matter what the plotline or the characters, the story will be different from anyone else who contrives to tell the tale.  This is part of the use of language by an author. The other influence on voice, it can be said, is the authors life, itself. What has he or she  experienced in his/her lifetime that has contributed to this unique perception and turn of phrase. It can be sated, then, that this perception of nature by the authors mentioned above  is treated differently by each, though each would agree that nature is a force unto itself, capable of both nurture and destruction.  Typically Romantic in his sensibilities, William Wordsworth sought to explain the mysteries of the human soul through his poetry, utilizing elements of nature. Like many poets of that time and  day, he was tremendously influenced by the changes that were occurring during this time. This theme is evident in his poem, Lines Written in Early Spring.
