The company also is involved with electronic and defense systems and rocket  systems, as well as communications systems (Datamonitor, 2007). In this paper, well provide a SWOT analysis of the companys strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and strengths.  Strengths. One of the main strengths is, of course, the Boeing name. As mentioned above, the company designed and manufactured the 747 jetliner which today is still considered  the prototype for long-haul flights (Taylor, 2003). Boeing has also been the leader in many diversification systems in a variety of endeavors (Taylor, 2003). The companys longevity, along with its  inventiveness, has led it to have an enviable leadership position in many markets (Taylor, 2003). Diversification is also a strength for this  company -- as a leading aerospace company, its also one of the largest satellite manufacturers in the world (Datamonitor, 2007). The company is also considered a global market leader in  the areas of missile defense, space flight and launch services (Datamonitor, 2007). Being so large, the company has also demonstrated strong  growth in the European and Asian markets (Datamonitor, 2007). This is important, as well see in an upcoming section, as much of the demand for aircraft is coming from the  Asia-Pacific rim. In the meantime, military defense spending is on the rise (another trend well examine later on), meaning there will be continued buying in the United States as well.  Weaknesses. The company is showing weak profitability -- during FY ended December 31, 2006, the opening profit grew 7.2% to reach $3
