Clearly, the industry has grown significantly in the past decade.  However, as more and more people become certified they are looking for the truly unique qualities of a dive center or resort. The key question quite simply is  what can I get at Coral Diver Resort that I cant get elsewhere. Jonathon Greywell must first examine Coral Divers strengths, which appear to be many. Safety, experience,  lack of crowds, and beachfront are definitely key factors at Coral Diver, factors he should capitalize on. Industry Structure The dive industry has attracted many new divers who see themselves  as "extreme sport" enthusiasts. Numerous enterprises in the industry are gearing up for more "adventure opportunities" for the person who wants more. The coral walls and reef sharks offer  Coral Diver that potential, but Greywell needs to be well aware of what his competitors are offering in that arena. Obviously, there are already dive operators in the area  offering wall, wreck, shark, and reef dives. Greywell may want to look into their years of operation, safety record, and certifications compared to those of Coral Diver. Five Forces  Model Michael Porters famous "five forces model of competition" can also assist Greywell, especially as he compares his own operation to those in the area.  He needs to be aware of what potential new operations may open on New Providence. He needs a thorough understanding of his own customer (buyers) base and why they  chose Coral Diver, as well as where his resort fits in terms of rivalry with the other dive shops and resorts. Are people substituting another leisure activity - golf,
