    sales. To consider the brand we can use a SWOT analysis. Strengths The brand name is well known and the company has a good range of bags and food  range of complimentary and substitute products such as cling films. The bags have had a tag line that has help receive sales when they are flagging and helps to create  an image, this is the "dont get made, get glad" tag line. However, a tag line alone is not enough, the company which had seen a decline in sales formed  a strategic alliance with Proctor and Gamble, this gave them access to the technology and development of a major supplier (Neff, 2003). The deal saw staff form Procter and Gamble  as well as technology being shared and has given Glad the opportunity to gain more competitive advantages it can use with the backing of a larger company (Brandweek, 2002). In  terms of sales, these are also high. In the year ending October 2002 there were sales of $413 million on only the plastic sales which excluded the kitchen storage goods  they sold (Brandweek, 2002). This alliance also gave Glad the opportunity to expand the line with Proctor and Gambles own cling film product, which was a potential market leader but  had not yet been marketed on a large scale (Brandweek, 2002). The strengths therefore include elements of the product price and promotion, as well as the placement when we consider  the lines of distribution in the supermarkets and retail environment which was also enhanced with the Proctor and Gamble involvement. The products are also being expanded and receiving good  reviews. Forceflex are then new rubbish bags that are being promoted as less likely to tear due to a unique diamond structure, and unlike some of the other bags in
