the phases of the system implementation process? Are there any phases that are less or more important than others? Before answering this question, lets first discuss what, exactly, systems implementation
is all about. In its most basic format, systems implementation is the process in which a planned system is put into action (Systems Implementation, 2010). The various stages focus on
acquiring hardware and software, writing the code for them, and installing them (Systems Implementation, 2010). This is, incidentally, different from the systems development life cycle, in which an entire system
is created or altered. Systems implementation is more specific, and it focuses on the hardware and software necessary to ensure the smooth running of a system.
Lets take a look at the phases of systems implementation. Hardware/software acquisition. This is fairly self-explanatory. This
particular phase can either be done in-house or outsourced to a trusted vendor. During this particular process, the decision is made whether to buy software or hardware off-the-shelf, or to
have it developed to an organizations specifications. Writing the code. In this particular phase, code is written to control the systems operations.
Though all phases of systems implementation are important, this is probably the most important part. A faulty code can doom a system from the start, so care needs to be
taken that it is done right the first time. Testing. Another reason for systems failure is because systems arent properly tested before
they go live. Testing is essential to ensure that the hardware is working well and that the software is sending the right communication to the hardware to operate efficiently. More
