Introduction What determines whether or not a text is  "sacred" must be based on the perceptions of those who use the text as part of their spiritual philosophy and personal worship. Obviously, a religious Muslim is unlikely to define  a text such as the Bible as sacred regardless of whether or not he understands that the Bible is sacred to Christians. The same can be said in reverse regarding  the Qurans sacredness for Christians. What makes a text sacred to an individual or a group is that it serves to outline the standards and course to be followed that  determines the ways in which a person works his or way spiritual wisdom. Such a text is considered to be worth religious veneration, inspired by God, and basically unchangeable. It  is almost always connected to the processes of transformation, self-awareness, and love. It portrays how a certain group of people is loved and how they should, in turn, love one  another. Such a characteristic is present in the sacred texts of the world ranging from the Bhagavad-Gita of the Hindus to the Torah of the Jews. What is "Sacred"? It  should be noted that the concept of "sacred" does not have to be determined in relationship to religion. Religion is just one of many possible ways for a person to  have an experience of the sacred. Far too often, religion itself can get in the way of sacred practice and understanding since it may require relatively rigid interpretations based on
