Research Compiled By - properly! Sample Size Determination Determining an
appropriate sampling size for a particular study is influenced by a variety of factors, but the principal criteria includes to determine the necessary level of precision, that is, the acceptable
range of sampling error; level of confidence or risk; and the degree of variability evident in the attributes being measured (Israel, 2009). There are various strategies for determining these factors,
one of which is to use a sample size calculator. The sample size calculators on the websites of Raosoft and Creative Research Systems were selected for comparison. On
each calculator, the writer/tutor selected for a confidence level of 95%, with the interval set at 5% for a population of 20,000. Both calculators indicated a recommended sample size of
377. As this suggests, both calculators were very similar. However, the Raosoft calculator was more informative, as after each factor this site included an explanation of that factor, what it
referred to and its significance to the proposed research. Also, the Raosoft calculator includes a feature that the Creative Research Systems calculator does not, as it also indicates what the
margin of error would be for a sample size of 100, 200 or 300, as well as the sample size needed for a confidence level of 90, 95 and 99
percent. The Ethics of Research The purpose of the selected study was to explore the relationship existing between service worker customer orientation and a variety of job response variables,
