    the stress associated with bullying and school. Their absenteeism increases, their cooperation decreases and the cumulative effect is that the victim begins to do poorly in school. It has been  found that the stress associated with bullying can also become dormant for many years and surface in adulthood leading to psychosocial problems. Some victims of bullying become aggressive themselves and  end up disrespectful to their teachers and parents in addition to alienating themselves from their peers. Many children who become aggressive have seen power hierarchies within their own family structure  and they remain aggressive to their peers, siblings and eventually their own children; in effect, becoming bullies. It is obvious that children suffer greatly from bullying but unfortunately much of  the bullying which occurs is not reported as most schools rely on the victim to report the abuse which may offer additional unwanted stress to the child.  For some reason that is not entirely clear to educators, some children within the school system are seen as different from the other children and become  targets for bullies. Bully can be from individuals or groups and these groups can eventually alienate a child, or children, and this abuse or aggression can have a great deal  of stress on the victims in addition to causing several long term negative effects. Bullying is considered to be "any form of physical violence, threats of violence, persistent and nasty  teasing, extortion for money or goods, and deliberate isolation of a person by excluding that person from the group" (Lau, 2002, p. 13). Children who are victims of bullies are  found to have varying levels of stress and have a more difficult time adjusting than other children.
