    but of course that is not it at all. If that were the case, then they might have bombed Hollywood or Beverly Hills. Others say it is because  they hate democracy, which is what we stand for. Or perhaps they resent our strength. All of these statements might be true, but they arent the things that  make men willing to die in terrorist attacks against our country (Zakaria 22). What is it that is so strong that it could cause men to not only  kill for us, but to kill themselves while they do it? The answer is Religion. For Osama Bin Laden and his followers, "this is a holy war between  Islam and the Western world" (Zakaria 22). While most Muslims would generally disagree, the fact remains Osama Bin Laden and his followers have created their own cult, and cults  can become as strong and powerful as any organization or corporation. This is not an isolated pocket of a few people (Zakaria 22). Al Qaeda is not an offbeat  fringe group that is an outcast of their society. Looking at any Arab newspaper will show that there is great admiration for Bin Laden and followers of him are  everywhere. Or consider this report from the Pakistani newspaper The Nation: "September 11 was not mindless terrorism for terrorisms sake. It was reaction and revenge, even retribution" (Zakaria 22). And  herein lies the major problem. The problem is not that Bin Laden considers this a religious war against the United States. The problem lies in the fact that  there are untold thousands of Islamic people who agree with him as well. People have tried to find the answers in this religion itself, and have found passages in
