to better understand their situation in terms of oil production. Kuwait started as a little country which relied upon basically fishing for its economy. What started then as
a little, insignificant country exploded economically with the discovery of oil. In very literal terms, this discovery has changed the
face of Kuwait in every way. This country grew massively rich almost overnight. And, with that wealth, came a host of other effects. Clearly, this wealth obviously
impacted the very fabric of life in Kuwait and changed its infrastructure extensively. What was once a very poor country with poor people now had an influx of great
wealth. However, the negative side to this huge expansion of the economy is that there is extremely little diversity.
If the oil were to run out tomorrow, Kuwait would essentially have nothing. They are almost entirely reliant upon oil for their wealth, and have few other natural resources
which are capable of even supplying themselves with necessities. Therefore, Kuwait must import nearly all of its food, water and other necessities thereby making them reliant upon other countries
for their most basic needs. There is no question that Kuwait is faced with a problem, and that is determining
their future. At the current rate of extraction, oil reserves are expected to last about 150 more years. While that estimate may or may not be accurate, clearly
this country must find alternate sources of income. Even before 150 years time, the world may find alternative fuel sources or there may be world events which impose sanctions
