Students who have been  diagnosed with attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) demonstrate numerous behaviors that tend to disrupt class and prevent these children from achieving academic success, which can lead to a variety of  comorbid conditions (Nur and Kavakci, 2010). As this suggests, it is imperative that elementary school teachers should have accurate knowledge and perceptions pertaining to ADHD in order to effectively  teach these students. Nevertheless, research indicates that this is frequently not the case, as teachers knowledge of ADHD may be deficient and they may harbor inaccurate misconceptions. This writer/tutor  suggests that the student researching this topic should present a research proposal that targets a specific school or school district. As the background and training of teachers may vary considerably,  in order to provide effective professional development in regards to ADHD, it seems reasonable that the specific knowledge and ideation of the teachers receiving the intervention should be explored.
