Managing a daycare center is highly demanding, entailing full responsibility for the effective functioning and well-being of staff and children. The job  also requires intense involvement with demanding people, a feature that has come to be recognized as a primary source of occupational burnout, especially in the so-called "helping professions." Burnout is  a consequence of chronic emotional pressures that draw continuously on the individuals personal coping resources. It is characterized by emotional, physical, and cognitive exhaustion resulting from the depletion of both  emotional and physical resources. Burnout is uniquely problematic in the daycare setting because it incurs loss of concern for the job and the  recipients of care. Clearly, in the day-care center, this circumstance ultimately has profound repercussions on the children, the employees, and their families. For example, negligent infant care and lax health  and safety precautions could result in increased risk for injury and infectious disease, two important public health issues in child day care. Thus, the prevention of chronic stress and burnout  is of utmost importance for all child-care workers. As important as maintaining emotional balance is for the daycare workers, what may actually be of even greater concern is the  impact burnout ultimately plays in terms of the children exposed to their caregivers condition of stress and/or burn-out. This study examines the potential  correlation between the level of burnout among daycare workers and associated levels of well-being among the children for whom they care. While burnout is associated with a wide variety  of health and behavior outcomes such as cardiovascular disease morbidity and mortality, immunological processes, psychosomatic impairment, and affective disorders, it is rarely viewed in terms of its impact on related
