If one likens the role of company manager to that of  gardener, with his employees being the roots of a very large tree, it becomes easy to visualize how the actions of this one person can make or break the health  of that tree. Sewing the seeds of such organizational theories is vitally important to the overall culture, yet this is not always envisioned as a priority in the workplace.  The roots of a tree may not be visible under normal conditions yet if they are not tended to on a regular basis, this lack of attention will begin  to break down the trees very foundation. Soon, various problems begin to manifest in the form of overwhelming bottlenecks and the absence of knowledge how to relieve the perpetual  choking. Successful leaders recognize the fact that intrinsic motivation is, without question, one of the most powerful motivational factors with regard to the competitive edge, yet Mike has been  wholly unsuccessful when it comes to instilling this in his workforce. The first analysis by Chad Frost is most on target primarily because  of the caution he advises Mike to take when implementing such tremendous change.
