the creation of beauty must be outline for the archbishop to "catch the vision" of what the builder perceives as possible. Clearly, the structure must glorify the sanctity of
the churches that had occupied the suggested location in the past, as well as the future generations praise for the Lord Jesus Christ. In fact, this student must understand
that this cathedral is one built to glorify God on earth for the next thousand years. First, the student must explain to whom this magnificent structure is to be dedicated.
Following the desire and piety of the bishop of Paris, Maurice de Sully, the cathedral shall be built and dedicated to Mary, the mother of Jesus. This is not

student is suggesting to Archbishop Savage that it be built on the on ?le de la Cit?, in the Seine. Think of it! It is a city within
a city, separate from the world yet protected by it, removed yet in its center. Certainly, the Archbishop will appreciate the majestic irony of such a metaphor. The
entire city of Paris will see it as a gem, as a representation of how precious they hold their faith in God. All of the world will be jealous
