    (2002) rightly points out that Kmarts bankruptcy will result in more job loss than what Enron has laid off so far. While that may be true, Enron has also become  a political nightmare. Democrats try to portray the debacle as a corporate and political scandal since there are some links all the way up to President Bush himself (Chaddock, 2002).  Others blame Clinton for the mess. What is Enron and why is everybody making such a fuss? Enron is a publicly held company that was once a top provider of  electricity and gas but had recently filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy ("Enron," 2002). The Rival power marketer Dynegy did agree to buy Enron but when speculation about shady accounting practices  hit the media, stock princes plummeted and Dynegy quashed the deal (2002). Enrons collapse and subsequent suspicious activity such as document shredding has created a situation where Congress started  an investigation (2002). Things became dismal fast. Not only is the company in trouble, but it has created quite a poor image. The public sees the executives leaving with  their retirement packages in tact but the majority of employees losing jobs and losing 401K money. From the look of things, something is not right. What is the history of  this now controversial company? II. History Enron began in 1985 as the combination of two companies called Houston Natural Gas and InterNorth ("Chronology," 2002). In 1989, it  began trading natural gas commodities and over the years, the company had become the largest natural gas merchant in North America as well as the United Kingdom (2002). In  1994, Enron North America traded its first electron and then went on to become the largest U.S. marketer of electricity(2002). In 1997, the company created a new logo and
