the user in an effort to design a program that can be appropriately implemented. The student adds that system design principles requisite that the designer develop strategies to consider the  needs of the user and that follow up and maintenance must be integrated into plans. Clearly, programmers must put the needs of the user first and if something is problematic,  it would need to be discussed. Users of course have the obligation to supply programmers with appropriate specifications and be available to answer questions as the programmers complete their work.  The testing phase is equally significant as the end user will have to sift through the data to make sure that output is perfectly aligned with the intent. Finally, maintenance  is in order because when a change occurs, the system will have to be tweaked. Also, something may go wrong or software or hardware updates can create problems. Thus, the  user and programmer must stay in touch as long as the program is being utilized. II. In the case, the Finance Director ask that someone analyze the needs of the accounting and financial reporting systems  current users. In order to accomplish this task, the student notes that one must prepare a document to be submitted to an organizations information technology department. This document will be  a needs assessment document and will be a part of the overall analysis and design of the system. In creating a needs assessment document, some additional assumptions must be  made about ABC. ABC corporation is an insurance brokerage firm that handles about 20 clients. Its systems keep track of loss ratios, premiums, projections and other pertinent financial and statistical
