Today, the  Joslin system that helps to control diabetes is utilized throughout the world by clinicians who realize that this is the best way for a good patient outcome ("LM Hospital," 2005).  Indeed, much of what is new in diabetes care had emanated from this well known facility. Joslin along with its affiliates boast treatment for more than 280,000 patients ("LM Hospital,"  2005). Its stated mission is to provide state of the art medical care for diabetes and endocrine problems through the use of a team setting ("LM Hospital," 2005). Its  vision is: "Be the provider of choice for diabetes & endocrine services in response to the communitys needs and new research findings" ("LM Hospital," 2005). Its values are accountability, respect,  compassion, stewardship and excellence ("LM Hospital," 2005). The clinic does not sit on valuable information because of the cost factor. Rather, this innovative facility forges ahead, which is why  it is an industry leader. The Joslin Diabetes Clinic is multifunctional. It provides services such as consultations, diabetes management , preconception counseling, pregnancy management related to diabetes and a full  range of endocrine services ("LM Hospital," 2005). Other services include various inpatient and outpatient offerings along with medical nutrition therapy ("LM Hospital," 2005). Insulin pump management as well as  initiation is offered at this clinic ("LM Hospital," 2005). Diabetics who use insulin pumps have to have the pump implemented. While the device stays on the outside of the body,  and usually clipped onto a belt, the implementation through the skin must be done properly and this facility is able to accomplish that task.
