of personal computers, both at home and in the workplace, has increased significantly. As access to personal computers has risen, the focus on communications modes and the use of
electronic mail (e-mail) has extended from this emphasis, and an increasing value has been placed on the use of e-mail for both personal and business communications. In the global
business environment, e-mail has been perceived by many to be a cost-effective and valuable form of communication, relieving the problems that stem from limited access to communications forms worldwide.
On a much smaller scale, e-mail has helped families convey messages, supported the development of at-home businesses, and increased the communications systems between schools and parents and citizens and their
governments. Claim: There are many different benefits that can be derived from the use of electronic mail (e-mail) both for personal and business communications, and these benefits far
outweigh the concerns raised regarding e-mail privacy and communications issues. Grounds: From a business perspective, the communications systems in many corporations have been virtually
taken over the use of electronic mail and electronic communications systems, primarily because of the ease by which these systems can transmit and retrieve information (Choicey 34). The potential
for both speed and service have resulted in a focus on e-mail as a primary business communications tool (Bergstein 106). Businesses have recognized that e-mail is a viable communications
technology that saves time and makes operations more effective by allowing individuals to send texts, graphics and important files electronically from one computer mailbox to another (Bergstein 106). E-mail
