lags behind that may create a disadvantage which makes trading more difficult. Information systems come in many forms, information technology can be a great help. Information technology systems where information  can be collected, stored, processed and output created can help any business as long as it is in line with the business needs. However, like any automated system, no matter  how complex, the system is a tool and it is how well it can and is used that will determined if the system will add value to the organisation. In  this case study we will look at General Insurance Company and the way that information process take place within the company and consider how an information technology solution may  help the company. In the case of General Insurance Company (GIS), provided by the student there is a fairly young company that has started up with the use of  manual systems. Entrepreneurial businesses have a unique culture and way of operating, but this business appears to be growing and the structure is also changing. The company has four regional  offices where sales advisers work, with between 2 ant 4 advisers in each location. The company also has a department of clerks, whose job it is to prepare the quotations  based ion the paperwork that the advisers send them. If we look at the information system in place in GIS as a whole we can look at the external sources  of information being the clients and the suppliers, and the internal subsystems being the way in which the advisers work and the way in which the clerks work. There is  bilateral communication between these systems, both have input from GIS management. If we present this is a bubble diagram looking internal and external system we would get the following.
