This 39 page research study considers the issues surrounding the introduction of law enforcement officers as non-traditional students in higher education, based on the supposition that law enforcement officers used to require a lesser degree of higher education, and that job descriptions, job availability, job demands and changing societal expectations have determined the impetus for change. In addition, this research study also considers the nature of adult education, the development of educational improvements and the increasing role of police officers as a component of the higher education model. This paper outlines the current literature and a research study, including a methodology for conducting research. Bibliography lists 60 sources.
