    the reasons for it, and whether or not we should stay and even increase the number of troops in the country; or if we should begin a phased withdrawal. This  paper argues that the most humane thing to do, and the only reasonable course of action, is to pull U.S. troops out of Iraq immediately. Discussion Michael Moore is of  course a controversial gadfly in the side of the Bush Administration. In fact, he is strongly anti-Bush and has not made any secret of his feelings. But despite his abrasiveness,  he has some well-reasoned points. Well ignore his invective and consider what he has to say underneath the shouting. First, he points out that the attempt to "liberate" a country  by invading it is an argument that makes no logical sense (Moore). He suggests that before one nation goes to help the people of another, those people should have shown  that they not only desire the assistance, but are also working to secure their own freedom. The Iraqis have not done this; even when Saddam was in power, there was  no mass outcry from the population to help get rid of the tyrant (Moore). Moore suggests that invading a nation and saying were there to free them doesnt work when  the people have "done nothing to liberate themselves" (Moore). We might reasonably object that Hussein would have had insurgents and rebels killed, but Moore points out that King George III  did have colonial insurgents killed, but the American Revolution went ahead, in spite of the fear that must have gripped its leaders (Moore). But in the case of Iraq, "[W]hen  tens of thousands arent willing to shed their own blood to remove a dictator, that should be the first clue that they arent going to be willing participants when you
