some of the same religious background as the attackers felt, it can be assumed, a mixture of fear, anger and shame. In the months to come, however, it would become  apparent to Congress as well as the American people, that this embracing of diversity, of transnational religious groups, would be a key strength Americas War on Terrorism. Many make the  assumption that the Taliban speaks for all of Afghanistan and for all those of the Islamic faith. But nothing could be further from the truth. The Taliban was only recently  formed in 1994 as a fragmented group of students whose interpretation of Islamic laws was so tangential as to include ideas and theories not represented in the Koran(Samizay 2001). Nonetheless,  their militaristic and Zionist ways managed to capture a large part of the ruling areas in Afghanistan and thus their way of life and doctrines became the way of life  for many cities in the areas that they controlled. Music, books, science, medicine, are among the few areas that were all but shut down when the Taliban took control of  the cities. Some would say that this is reminiscent of Stalins control of all literature and ideas not falling into line with his doctrine of the collective government. Bin Laden  intended to not only continue his attack on the United States, but had hoped to enlist the support and aid of other Muslim countries in this assault. Thus their ultimate  goal of converting the world to Muslim rule would be accomplished. This line of thinking is one that Jewish-Americans know well. They know it because it has been passed down  from generation to generation. They and their childrens children know it as the Holocaust. And it started in much the same way, except this time America didnt wait to act.
