The mission, SWOT analysis and strategy  of the company are discussed herein and corporate and business level decision making processes that are happening within the organization. Through the use of these different methods of analysis,  recommendations based on the findings will be made as to the future of Tyco International. The SWOT and other frameworks point to the importance of both the external and internal  phenomena in understanding the sources of competitive advantage. The development of tools for analyzing environmental opportunities has proceeded more rapidly than the development of other tools as far as  the analyzing of a firms internal strengths and weaknesses (Barney 1995). PRESENT STRATEGY Tyco International "through its divisions and operating subsidiaries, engages in the manufacture and distribution of disposable  medical supplies and other specialty products, the design, manufacture, installation and service of fire detection and suppression systems, and the manufacture and distribution of flow control products and electrical and  electronic components" (Business Summary, PG, 2001). Tyco Internationals mission statement and present strategy is as follows: "There is no industry that evolves as rapidly as electronics. Technologies, processes,  products and companies all move from dynamic new development to industry standard to historical footnote at a pace that can seem almost instantaneous.
