JLdomviolUK.rtf "Domestic violence" Research Compiled for Enterprises Inc By , January 2013 To Use  This Report Correctly, Please   There are a number of factors surrounding the issue of domestic violence and the way in which it is treated by the legal  system which have evolved from social and cultural elements regarding the way in which certain groups in society are perceived, and the effect that this has on their treatment by  other groups. For example, even though domestic violence is often considered to refer only to the abuse of women by men, particularly within marriage, it is actually a much more  widespread phenomenon and one which involves people of all ages and both sexes.  In addition, domestic violence does not always involve physical abuse or attacks, since it can take the form of  psychological abuse or neglect. It is also the case that domestic violence is not confined to particular socio-economic group, but can be found to occur in households at all levels  of the economic spectrum. Research conducted in recent years has also shown that because of the very nature of the crime, it is often difficult to identify: not only does  in take place outside of the public gaze, it is also something which is not reported by victims because of their fear of reprisals, and because the legal remedies available
