it. In this paper, well examine the background of Wynn Resorts, provide a SWOT analysis and cap it off with some recommendations
as to how the company can take advantage of its strengths to grab hold of its opportunities. Before actually going into the SWOT, however, well examine Wynns background, as well
as provide an analysis of the gambling and entertainment industry as a whole. COMPANY BACKGROUND In 2002, Stephen Wynn made some interesting
copy when he made the announcement that he was taking is private company public to build the Le Rve Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Trip, on the site
of the former Desert Inn Resort & Casino (OConnor, 2002). But Wynn had already made his reputation for building massive casinos that were high on glitz and somewhat doubtful from
the real estate perspective, though hed managed to build facilities in Las Vegas, Mississippi and Atlantic City (OConnor, 2002). The Mirage was a Wynn concept, as well as the Bellagio
(Ruiz, 2006). Wynns stake in the Golden Nugget helped bring the vintage gambling hall up-to-date, and his Treasure Island ended up attracting as many followers as his Mirage, with its
54-foot volcano (Stein, 2005). But rather than build on the "theme" concepts that were sweeping through Vegas at the time, Le Rve
was designed with a "sophisticated, casually elegant ambiance," according to the filing documents (OConnor, 2002). The vision included more than 2700 hotel rooms, 18 dining establishments, a championship golf course,
