    Buffet is worth an estimated $60 billion. He does have certain access to policymakers. For instance, he spoke before the U.S. Congress in November 2007 urging them to keep the  estate tax, saying that if they repealed the estate tax as they had discussed doing, it would benefit a very small number of the richest Americans and it would also  widen the economic gap in America (New York Times, 2007). Again, in 2007, Buffet was speaking at a fundraiser for Senator Clinton and told the audience at this $4,600  plate dinner that criticized the tax system that taxed him at 17 percent of his $46 million earnings the previous year but taxed his secretary at 30 percent for her  $60,000 income (Bawden, 2007). This was absolutely wrong, in Buffets opinion. He again said that this tax system actually hurt the economy because it increased the disparity of wealth (Bawden,  2007). One final example is his meeting with then-candidate Obama about the economic crisis we are now in. Other very influential persons attended that same meeting, including Secretary of labor  Bob Reich, Google Chairman Eric Schmidt, Paul Volcker, the former chairman of the Federal Reserve and New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine (Romow, 2008). This seems like a rather eclectic assortment  of people. Buffet really does not use any specific strategies to maintain his status and influence. He doesnt have to. It is reasonable to suggest that Buffet could  speak to anyone he wanted to speak to simply because of his wealth and reputation. He does not seem to seek that type of fame or position. His biographies all  suggest he lives a very simple house, still living in the same house he bought long before he was named the richest man in the world and was referred to
