    economic ladder, even though we possess that typical vision known as the American Dream. We are, sociologically speaking, often hindered by the positions our parents possessed, rarely moving up a  notch in the economic world. And, even if people wish to move up that ladder, there is not a great deal of room up there as a very small percentage  of Americans are actually wealthy. But, it is possible, and it is possible even for poor immigrants to achieve the success they could never have had in their land of  birth. This is likely due to opportunities that were non existent in their homeland, the opportunities inherently possessed in the American Dream. And, opportunities we, as American born citizens take  for granted. In the following paper we present a brief scenario about an immigrant who moved to the United States, alone and poor, and became successful. We illustrate how this  is possible by looking at a man from a similar background, Andrew Carnegie. The Scenario The character in question is an individual from India who has lived in poverty,  perhaps experiencing life as an "untouchable," the lowest class on the ladder of society in India. This individual, and their family, understand that there is really no future in India,  especially with current political and economic problems. The family gathers together enough money to send their only son to America, where one can achieve success no matter who they are.  The family believes what they have heard about America, how it is the land of opportunity and anyone can achieve the American Dream of wealth and success. The son  comes to the united states with no money and only possessing what is in his suitcase. The family has a group of relatives who live in American. The boys uncle
