CULTURE OF THE MUSLIMS The main principles of Muhammads Islamic teachings reflected the very essence of benevolence and discipline, for they taught the importance of  being true to ones God. Islam represents the most dedicated of disciples in that Muhammad instructed his following to accept whatever Gods prophets doled out and to do so  without question. If one did not bring to bear this responsibility, Muhammad was not reserved in instructing them on the benefits of Heaven and the consequences of Hell.  Still, even with such a bristling restriction of lifelong commitment, the Muslims continued to embrace Islam for the "beauty and truth" (Bruning 56) it represented. For those followers who abide  by the prophets and follow the "path of righteousness" (Bruning 56) the hereafter is said to be a glorious existence. Muhammad preached that the world is full of chaos  and confusion; Muslims have the inherent ability -- through the prophets influence -- to avert all the fatalistic consequences of such negativity. Indeed, Muhammad prescribed a life full of  "lofty ethical ideals and peaceful coexistence" (Bruning 56) that non-believers of Islam would never obtain. Indeed, he was instrumentally responsible for a number of enlightening and progressive changes during  the spread of Islam, a word that translates to "submission to one God" (Shama PG). Not only did he bring to light the inherent prejudice toward women, but he  also set a significant precedence with regard to recognizing "peoples right to justice and freedom from Oppression" (Shama PG).
