    struggling to find a sustainable place in the modern; their business model based on equipment sales in an environment where there is increased use of digital technology and increasing demand  by firms to move to paperless processes. The firm has undertaken the acquisition of Affiliated Computer Services (ACS); a business process outsourcing (BPO) firm. The underlying idea of the acquisition  has been to acquire the knowledge needed to help transform Xerox into a firm that is able to offer business solutions, and develop a long term sustainable strategy. The perceived  synergy between Xerox and ACS is also deemed to provide some significant advantages with the combining of the technology and knowledge form both firms to create a new form of  business services outsourcing supply. The firm has a vision regarding the future, with the integration of the two firms leading to an enhancement and new way of providing business solutions.  However, having a vision and idea for the future does not assure that success is achieved. Indeed, it appears that there is scepticism in the markets regarding the ability of  the vision to be realised. The markets have seen both HP and IBM make the transformation to services firm, but these were firm that had already made significant changes and  had been more successful in integrating acquisitions. Xerox have not had a high level of success in terms of integrating past acquisitions. There are two problems faced by the  firm; the first is the way in which there can be integration of Xerox and ACS in order to create a single value adding firm. The second challenge is the  way in which a new business model will be implemented which provides the business with a long term sustainable strategy. 2.
