    involves an eighteen year old Caucasian female. The subject is a college student who presently lives in a freshman dorm sharing quarters with one roommate. The student of  concern is highly motivated in both her personal and her academic career. In some respects, however, this motivation has had a negative influence on the students life. She  is highly autonomous, worries excessively about the various projects which she is immersed in, has difficulty in time management, and worries extensively about tests. The student also admits that  she views asking for help as a weakness. Although she values friendship and is concerned about how others view her, she rates herself as a medium in sociotropy.  Diagnosis on Axis I of the DSM-IV is major depression with a single moderate episode resulting in a score of 296.22.  Axis II diagnosis reveals no personality disorder, Axis II no physical disorders or conditions, Axis II no physical disorders or conditions, Axis IV mild psychosocial stressors, and Axis V a  current global assessment of functioning of 60 as compared to 85 in the previous year. Intake objective scores are Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) 27, Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) 15,  and Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS 15). The student has sought out therapy and has stated that she agrees with the model of becoming  her own therapist. In a written evaluation of her suitability for cognitive intervention, she notes that she rates high in psychological mindedness, objectivity, and adaptiveness. She rates herself  as medium/high in awareness and belief in cognitive mode but a medium in accessibility and plasticity of automatic thoughts and beliefs and reports a low rating in humor, quantifying that
