    Hewlett-Packard Company is the #3 computer company in the world, behind IBM and Compaq. The company produces computers, imaging and printing peripherals, software and computer-related services. More than half the  companys sales are from outside the U.S. The company is also becoming heavily involved in the Internet (Hoover, 2000). Canon Inc. makes computer peripherals, including printers, copiers, fax machines, business  systems, camcorders, and optical products for a variety of industries. Cameras, which was the companys original business now account for only 10 percent of its business while nearly 40 percent  is derived from computer peripherals. Canon is heavily involved in developing products that incorporate digital, multimedia and a variety of next-generation technologies. This is a Japanese company with 70 percent  of its revenue derives from outside of Japan, about half of which is in North and South America (Hoover, 2000). Xerox Corporation caters to the global document processing market. The  company creates copiers, printers, scanners, fax machines, software for PCs and workstations. About 55 percent of its revenue is derived from digital copiers and other digital equipment. The company holds  a 30 percent share of the digital copier market in the U.S. About 55 percent of its revenue is derived from sales in the U.S. This company is also concentrating  on e-commerce technology (Hoover, 2000). The following table offers very selected fiscal data from the three companies as a comparison of size.
