Indeed, while flaunting ones body is seen as sexist in prior generations of feminists, it is  no longer taboo. Some feminists in fact embrace the idea of sexual freedom whereas others see all sex as rape. There are in fact different types of feminism, but by  and large, most can agree that the womens movements of past generations paved the way for a world that is at least more gender conscious. Hardy-Fanta (1993) talks about sexism  and how it has shaped a world. Indeed, sexism is rampant in society and for a variety of reasons seems to irk women at different times in history. Hence, one  can see waves of womens movements throughout the past couple of centuries. There have been waves of womens movements and patterns of emergence vary and is dependent upon the time  period in question. Looking back through history, it should be noted that feminism was actually considered to be imported from France and was then equated with youth,  psychology, sex, financial independence, and self ("The feminism," 1998). However, elements of the marginalized nineteenth century critique of marriage began to spring forth but this time it was with broader  generational appeal; it was more interesting and expressed female sexual desire for the first time (1998). Stanton, with Susan B. Anthony close behind, cut her way through the  defense of the status quo in order to embrace her own intellectual redoubt ("The feminism," 1998). In the 1850s, the vote was really the only concern for many (1998).  In searching for the pure liberal lineage for feminism, recent writers have suggested that these early movements were resistant to changing private life (1998).
