That said, what seems to stand out is that this firm treats its employees well,  and while that may not appear to be an important strategic method to expansion at first, upon closer examination, it seems to be the key to the chains success.  Wal Mart is a household name in America. Many people go shopping at their local Wal Marts in an attempt to secure good products at bargain prices and they succeed.  Not only does Wal Mart offer quality clothing for the family, food at discounted prices and everyday household items at affordable prices, but it does so with an attractive and  friendly shopping atmosphere that has put this discount store chain at the top of its niche. While the firm has done well for itself, it has had its share of  problems. In examining a case study submitted by a student entitled "Wal Mart stores Inc. Becoming the worlds largest company," it does appear that problems did exist. The case study  opens by explaining that while the chain has grown immensely, there were difficulties in 2000. In 2000, things took a turn for the worse and the CEO realized that  he would have to create a new plan for the future. A strategic audit for the case reveals a variety of things. One can discern the companys strategic objectives,  which seems to be outward expansion. One problem is that over time, the chain has driven mom and pop stores out of business. Because the entrepreneurial spirit is applauded in  America, and big conglomerates are sometimes frowned upon, not everyone likes when Wal Mart breaks ground in their communities. In fact, there have been petitions against Wal Mart opening in
