    Ellis Island, the housing and labor conditions in the United States, the human loss during World War I, and the construction of the Empire State Building during the Great Depression.  One of the best portrayals of the man and his work is offered in the 1984 color video documentary directed by Nina Rosenblum entitled "America and Lewis Hine" (56 minutes,  narrated by Jason Robards, Maureen Stapleton and John Crowley). The video covers over 40 years of Hines professional life in relation to the historical and political events of the time  and how as an artist he was able to capture the personal perspective of these events (Troncale, 1996). The video covers a great deal of information about Hine including his  first career as a teacher, his hiring by the National Child Labor Committee in 1908 and his documentation of the construction of the Empire State Building in 1930 and World  War I coverage. While a great deal of the video relates to the methods Hine used to accurately portray the messages, primarily about child labor he was trying to depict,  the video also has a great deal of historical information which may formerly be unknown to the viewer. Despite Hines work for the National Child Labor Committee, in 1916 the  Child Labor Law was declared unconstitutional because the Supreme Court had ruled that the federal government had no jurisdiction over intrastate matters; an interesting piece of historical information which shows  the many conflicts within the U.S. political system (Art, 2003). One of Hines comments was "I only photograph beautiful children" which helps to reflect his vision and rapport with the  children he photographed and the trust they entitled him during his work. At the same time, it can be argued that to fully show the exploitation of the child labor,
