    evaluate the analysis of media texts, it is useful to consider the way in which such texts are defined, and the relevance they have to the way in which society  is represented. For example, Sheahan-Bright (2001) points out that it is necessary to consider media texts not in isolation, but in terms of the context of the way that they  are produced and the reception accorded to them by the audience. Consequently, the evaluation of texts can been considered as offering insight not only into the text itself, but also  into the social and cultural context within which the text interacts.  It could be asserted, for instance, that all media texts present a distorted and inaccurate perception of the reality which they  purport to represent, as a result of the way in which they are composed and edited in order to mediate between reality and the producers intended audience. Consequently, all forms  of text are defined firstly by the way that the producer perceives their own subjective reality, and secondly through the extent of the selection process which the text undergoes before  it is presented to the audience in the form of symbolic representations which they can understand.  However, this does not imply that the presentation of media texts is not reciprocal: the  reaction of the audience to the way that reality is presented will also influence the producer, both in artistic and commercial terms.
