has cost the corporation literally millions of dollars. It seems as though bringing back a product that had been such an unwise use of money, as a foolish business  decision. This can easily be determined by making a management analysis of Textron, Inc. and its products.  From an analysis of the corporation and its product/products, many things should be considered. They include the business strategy, competitive approach of the company, its position, the  industry, the situation, whether the product is dominant or a runner up, whether there is a critical need for the product, whether the industry is declining or maturing, the companys  advantages or disadvantages. A SWOT analysis needs to be done of the product in order to determine whether it should be rejuvenated. According to  Stacy (1999), for business to be able to compete they must understand the SWOT principle. SWOT is an acronym for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. SWOT gives a  company a manner in which to analysis the companys market position in comparison to its competitors. The goal of a company is "to identify all the major factors affecting  competitiveness before crafting a business strategy" Fred Wiersema, co-author of "The Discipline of Market Leaders, said, "It comes for an old term from the  strategic planning field" (58). Those familiar with marketing have taken old terminology and created a new acronym from them. The terms have come from the old principles of  situation analysis. They include the core competencies of a companys main business, the liabilities or weak points of the business, and the competitors and customers (Collett, 1999).
