    is unique and interesting both in its message as well as the way in which it was written. Coover has an exceptionally interesting way of relating information throughout the  course of this story, much of which is never revealed directly. In other words, there is a lot of information to be garnered from this story simply by examining  elements of the story in terms of technical aspects, such as the language which is used and the voice of the story. The Brother is told in the third person.  This is an interesting component because it lends further information about the characters without ever coming out and saying so. Therefore, Coovers choice in using the third person  reflects something of Coover himself and underlines a message which he attempts to make in this story. Essentially, this story is about Noahs ark - it is told by  the brother of Noah who goes unnamed throughout. Another interesting component of the story is the use of grammar. This story is written in dialect which makes the  tone of the story conversational, as if the reader is right there listening to the story too. Second, there is no end-of-sentence punctuation used throughout the book. Again,  this adds information to the reader. One of the main purposes of this is that is further aids in making the reader feel as if he is a listener  to a real conversation. This is not a story which has well-thought out sentences (in appearance anyway) and thoughtful narration to fill the reader in on background information.  The tone is decidedly informal and that is apparently just what the author intended. The use of little grammar, dialect and being told in the third person all
