    they are good choices for particular addicts. Cocaine and crack are the drugs which are the focus of this paper on addiction and recovery. Cocaine and its addictive qualities are  highlighted and in fact, authors probe the more technical aspects of this particular type of addiction. For example, it is noted that interest in cocaine addiction had focused on modulating  the dopamine system but that had limited success. New methodology that has yielded better approaches. Specific medical facts are included in this medical journal article. Cognitive behavioral therapy is  also discussed as a method for addicts to turn their lives around. Contingency contracting is yet another methodology included where addicts are given rewards for not using drugs. The author  notes that such treatment is controversial but quite effective. Morris (1998) also delves into a variety of treatments that may be utilized, and have been deemed to be helpful, for  addicts exploring options. It is implied that many addicts have the desire to change careers from being an addict to becoming a fully functioning member of society. The article goes  on to say that by and large, researchers agree that a combination of methods be utilized to combat drug addiction. This article provides an overview of what is available in  terms of assisting addicts to turn their lives around.
