    a particular job or industry. Now there is a different term, the "educated professional." This person has all the abilities of the professional, and adds on top some interesting attributes  and factors. In their work "Defining the Educated Professional," co-authors Joan S. Stark and Malcolm A. Lowther define what, exactly, an educated professional is, and how instructors can ensure that  their students becomes such professionals. The purpose of this paper is to examine and analyze the factors that create an educated professional by using examples from life, and examples and  quotes from the Lowther/Stark article. The article, incidentally, can be found in the book, Strengthening the Ties that Bind: Integrating Undergraduate Liberal and Professional Study (1998, which was published by  the University of Michigan press in Ann Arbor, Mich. While this paper studies the teacher in the role of educational professional  (after all, one who teaches must be learned), the idea of educated professional can cross any line and encompass any career. A line worker in a factory can be an  educated professional, as long as he or she meets the parameters of how Lowther and Stark define this concept. What, exactly, is an educated professional?  An educated professional, according to the Lowther/Stark definition, is one whose learning doesnt just stop when he or she graduates from college or graduate school, and begins  a career (whether that career be in teaching or another field). The truly educated professional or person has the wish to continue learning throughout the rest of his or her  life. In the area of professional education, the person would take responsibility for his or her own continued professional growth by attending seminars and workshops or even by talking with
