    company was becoming weak, but the innovations of the iPod came at the right time when the company needs a product to help increase revues and effectually save it.  To understand the current position of the company we can look at the leadership and the development along with the strengths weaknesses opportunities and threats. Apple was founded in 1976,  the current Chief Executive Office Steven Jobs, was a co-founder. The company claims to have ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s wit the Apple II, and then the  development of the Mackintosh Today and then the iMac. The iMac is a computer but also has its own unique operating system which means it competes in hardware terms with  PCs which are able to use Microsoft Windows. The traditional market for both the iMacs and the iPods is that of innovators and early adopters, but this is now developing  and it has been noticed that many traditional PC users are starting to move over to Mac systems (Business Week Online, 2002). The company had 2.8% of global systems being  a Mac then it is also fair to assert 2.8% of the users are using a Mac system, but may use Mac and PC systems. Another important market is  that of the educational channel 16% of all sales go through this channel. The level of internet sales also indicate the level of existing IT users that are choosing the  purchase Apple equipment as such we can see Apple is keeping p teeth the times. The main market which goods are sold  to is the consumer market. There is also a high level of sales made to the educational market, 16% of the companies income came from sales made to US educational
